Enable outside information, choose a source and review what you save.
In the app: Research → External tools
Enable research tools in Research and Talk
This switch is off by default and saves when you change it. Turning it on permits web searches, public page summaries, video caption summaries, utilities and research jobs. Questions and selected source text may be sent to the configured AI services.
Turning it off blocks new external calls. Work already started may still finish. Results stay separate from your notes until you choose Save.
Choose the right research tool
- Web search / Question
- Ask an outside-information question. Open the source links to check the answer.
- Page summary / Public HTTPS page URL
- Summarise a public page. Add Summary focus to say what you want to learn; private or inaccessible pages may not be readable.
- Video captions summary
- Summarises captions rather than watching every visual detail. Public YouTube captions are fetched when available. Paste captions, WebVTT or SRT as a fallback for unavailable tracks or Vimeo.
- Caption language
- An optional caption preference, such as en, th or en-US.
- Longer research
- Add up to two extra focus questions, one per line. The job can run up to three searches and a comparison, with saved progress.
- Cancel job
- Stops future work. A provider call already running may still finish.
- Calculator and time zones
- Use the separate utility fields for calculations and time-zone conversions.
Try this
Use Page summary for one article. Use Web search for “What are the current options?” Use Longer research when you need a comparison across two additional questions.
