Install ThoughtKeeper on your computer

Open ThoughtKeeper in its own window, with its own icon, instead of a browser tab.

In the app: Sidebar → Install app

Install it

  1. Open ThoughtKeeper in Chrome or Microsoft Edge on your computer and sign in.
  2. Select Install app in the sidebar, or the install icon at the right end of the address bar. The sidebar button appears once you have used the page for a little while.
  3. If you see neither, open the browser's menu. In Chrome, choose Cast, save and share, then Install ThoughtKeeper. In Edge, choose Apps, then Install ThoughtKeeper.
  4. Select Install. ThoughtKeeper opens in its own window and is added to your computer's list of apps, such as the Start menu.
  5. To keep it one click away, right-click its icon while it is open and choose Pin to taskbar. On a Mac, choose Options, then Keep in Dock.

Good to know

On a Mac with Safari, open ThoughtKeeper and choose File → Add to Dock.

Start Talk straight away

  1. Right-click ThoughtKeeper's icon in the taskbar and choose Talk.
  2. ThoughtKeeper opens, or comes to the front if it is already open, and starts a conversation.

Good to know

Each start uses one of today's Talk conversations. If Talk can't start, for example because today's are used up, the Talk page says why. Talk appears in the menu once the browser next checks the installed app for updates, which can take a day.

What stays the same

Your account
The app uses the same sign-in, notes, tasks and settings as the browser. Nothing is copied or moved, and you can keep using both.
Microphone
Microphone access you allowed in the browser carries over. If the app asks, choose Allow.
Updates
There is nothing to update. The app always opens the latest version.
No internet
Without a connection, the app shows a short message with a Try again button. Your notes stay in your account.

Remove it

  1. In the app's window, open the menu at the top right: ⋮ in Chrome, … in Edge.
  2. Choose Uninstall ThoughtKeeper. In Edge it may be under App settings. Your notes and settings stay in your account.
